Fall Break Reflections

Hello everyone!

It's been a while since I last posted and lots of things have been happening since the last time I posted the night before I left to head to Clemson. It's hard to believe my first semester at Clemson is half way over and I've learned so much in my first half of my first semester in Tiger Town. I would like to use today's post to reflect and update you on my journey at Clemson by discussing the progress of those core goals I talked about in my last blog post.

1. Academics: For those of you that have been following me since I started my college career two years ago at Spartanburg Methodist College, you know I have kept academics at the forefront, and that has not changed as I have went off to Clemson. I am still spending hours studying in the library on Sundays and in the Watt Family Innovation Center during the week. I knew that things were going to be more challenging academically at Clemson than they were at SMC, and the academic challenges have taken some getting used to, there has been good and bad, and there's plenty of things I need to work on. My class sizes this semester aren't much bigger than class sizes at SMC, with the exception of two classes. My professors are tough, but they are fair and honest people and I appreciate that about them and I look forward to getting back to work with them when classes resume after Fall Break. I am committed to continuing the standard of excellence academically and focusing on my consistency as the second half of the semester begins.

2. Relationships: This has been an enjoyable part about my first half at Clemson. I've reunited with old friends who've already been at Clemson and it's been so fun seeing them and seeing the look on their faces when they see me, and it's been exciting to catch up with them because I haven't seen in years. I've also met so many amazing new friends and I'm thankful that I've had the opportunity to get to know them. Some of those people I've met in the dining halls, at football games and walking around Clemson's beautiful campus. It hasn't always been easy making friends though, as this is one of the challenges of transferring schools - but I know, it will take time and I can't wait to meet many more great people at Clemson.

3. Opportunities/Involvement: One of the areas I felt like I didn't do a good job in at SMC was being involved on campus. I know that this is also a challenge for transfer students so, when I was accepted to Clemson, I vowed to change that, but I also wanted to keep the main goal for being at Clemson at the forefront while doing something that I feel will benefit me as I build for the future after I walk into Littlejohn Coliseum and earn a degree from Clemson. As many of you know, the plan is to major in English with the goal of pursuing a journalism career. I know that I had mentioned to some of you that I originally planned on majoring in Communications, but due to space limitations with the major at Clemson, I was unable to do that. Therefore, I feel majoring in English is the best course of action to take at this time. Shortly after the semester started, I reached out to the folks at the Tiger Newspaper and became a contributor for them where I am currently writing sports stories and opinion based stories for them. If you follow me on social media, you have seen the stories I have written for them. I'll post them on this post so that you can see them if you haven't. I am very excited to continue to work with them and produce great content for them.

I've currently written four stories and I would invite you, if you haven't already to read them:

I typically post my stories on my social media accounts on Monday afternoons at 12:30pm (EST), so check them out if you get the chance.

Overall, I've had a wonderful first half of the fall semester at my new home in Clemson and I am so blessed to be living the dream. I ask for your prayers as I get ready to kick off the second half of the semester that it will be even better than the first half.

Below, you will see pictures from the first half of the fall semester. As far as this blog is concerned, I will try to do another full update either before the end of the semester around Thanksgiving or when I get home from my first semester at Clemson. I would invite those of you that may be new to my blog to go check out the content that I put out before I got to Clemson.
Thank you all for your continued support!

This is probably the most memorable picture. I got on TV during my first game as a Clemson student.

These are pics from the Eclipse in Clemson before classes started which was really cool and it got incredibly dark for it to be 2:45 in the afternoon!
